Where does the trip start? if it is in an area where there is no cancellation penalty, I would suggest going to AA and making a whole new booking if there is availability on the whole trip and then cancelling the CX booking

This will have no cost overall, however you would be out of pocket by the amount of the ticket whilst you await the refund from CX so would require that the ticket cost on the credit card would not cause you a problem
