But CX is issued the ticket and AA cannot change it and CX will not change it Guy Betsy mentioned that CX computer does not list the AA code share as an option.
Perhaps you misunderstood what I was suggesting. In the post just above this one, someone mentions one way to get AA to change the ticket onto their flight, but it involves a change fee. That's the sure way to do it. What I was suggesting was something different, and it's that you do the following:

Call AA and say that you want to make a reservation only for the AA-marketed flight you want, one-way in the appropriate booking class, and that you already have a ticket that's valid for that flight, but you don't want to mess with that at this time. AA doesn't have to do anything with the existing ticket - all they need to do is make a new reservation on a separate PNR with just that flight segment. If they want details about the ticket, you can give them the CX ticket number (not the PNR, but the actual ticket number) but make it clear to them that this is for reference only and that you want no changes to the actual ticket or original reservation to be made at this time. As a protective measure, you may want to call CX and change the date for this segment to a later date so that they don't see a single passenger having two reservations on the same flight. Don't tell CX anything in advance about the AA reservation you've made. Then, on the day of travel, you check in to your AA flight, and provide the CX ticket number (if it's not already on the record) for payment, or if a paper ticket, just hand over the coupon. Since the agent will be a CX employee, this may seem a bit odd, but it's perfectly normal and allowed per the *ONE* ticket rules, at least as I understand them. At the time of check-in, they should be wearing their AA hat, and you have a reservation for an AA flight and a ticket that's valid for it (keeping in mind that the *ONE* tickets are valid on any ow carrier for that route without re-issue or endorsement of the originally-ticketed carrier, or the carrier issuing the ticket, which would both be CX in this case).

Although not switching to a different codeshare number for the same physical flight, I have flown a segment on a different ow carrier without having the ticket reissued, and it worked just fine once they got the original ticket number to lift the coupon in the computer.

If someone more knowledgeable about such things thinks I got something wrong, please chime in!
