Just returned from BOM and flew 9W intra-India so can only comment on that. But service was amazing-last flight with them I took was not a minute over an hour and yet was served pre-flight drink and full lunch during the flight-in Y! Getting on the plane was an entirely different story, however, but I suppose it's pretty standard across the board for other Indian carriers. Couldn't select a seat until a mere 12 hours before flight (was nervous the entire time I'd get stuck in a middle seat but thankfully didn't) and other minor annoyances that were to be expected. But once on board, it was great.
Also worth mentioning, I flew AC C class out of Toronto to FRA then LH C FRA-BOM. AC's new C was really amazing and I believe it's the same herringbone design as Jet and Virgin. I loved it, and it was quite nice to get the UA EQM's out of it. If you still want that seat, and the EQM's to go with it, you might want to consider AC. Connecting via Toronto wasn't too bad, but downsides were a really frustrating immigration process at YYZ and LH's good, but certainly not stellar, C for half the time in getting there.
If I could get UA miles or didn't care about getting UA miles, as you seem to be in a position to afford, I would probably go with Jet.
