There doesn't seem to be any great advantage to you in getting *G through AC. You'd probably be better off trying to get up to 50K on an airline where you can take advantage of their elite program. If you want priority check-in and Lounge access, buy a Maple Leaf Lounge card that will get you into MLLs anywhere and into RCCs.
