I keep one in my personal carry on in addition to the one I show/handover to the employees. Should I lose one set it is unlikely that I would lose the other;

Yes and no. The FAs won't care about the receipt, though the BP would be useful. While still at the gate mentioning that there is a security issue because someone boarded using the BP of a different passenger might also cause some pause, though going up the jetway to the gate would be the most direct way to resolve the issue. Alas, if you're the last to board then that isn't much of an option.
