I suppose its because it relies on

a) the aircraft being low enough for it to be read (ie only during take off and landing)
b) the eyesight of the person looking up being good enough to read it
c) the aircraft landing at an airport like LHR where the plane flies low over a major area of population (not many airports like that really)

so it probably has a quite limited effectiveness... and the fact that you only thought it might say emirates probbaly answers your question!

PS i Wouldnt go spreading it about that you like frequenting Clapham Common...
