Thanks to everyone for their replies. At least I know that I'll need to pick up my luggage, vs. the airline keeping it till my next days' Int'l flight. I have changed my reservations so that I will arrive a day earlier before my Int'l connection to MEL, and I will pick up my luggage. Thanks.
