I stayed at the Art Hotel last May. It was okay. Clean and surprisingly quite, but other than the staff, the general atmosphere wasn't that friendly so it was more or less like any other very small inexpensive hotel carved out of an older pre-war building. (Berlin has many of them, so shop around the neighborhood). I also recall a Best Western nearby (?)

On the plus side, Art Hotel is very near everything- both gay interest and EZ transport for sightseeing, shopping etc. And it's a gay owned and operated business with no apparent premium pricing for being gay.

At the time Tom's was being refurbished and it looked like they were doing an extensive remodel. However, the block it was on seemed a bit 'sketchy'
