Several different phone agents gave me the same story, as did two check-in agents. And in slightly surprising fashion, all five explanations were identical.
Sorry, for the confusion I didn't appreciate that this was both classes and that you were saying $55 was for same day change vs. advanced change. I'm very interested in the $55 confirmed change fee for business class. If this is actually based on J availability then we're back to putting reward travelers in front of upgrades regardless of status. I wonder if you need to have a confirmed J ticket the whole way to do confirmed change or just one leg.
