You're probably SOL. I mean, it wouldn't hurt to raise the issue with customer relations but don't hold your breath.
I had a situation a few years ago in IAD where my I missed a connecting flight due to a delay in SJU. I had to spend the night in IAD and the agent told me that I was "gifted" an upgrade on the next day's flight. I was already upgraded using CR-1s so I thought it was nice of her to gift me an upgrade.
When I got back to HNL, I found out that the CR-1 was still taken out. I wrote to customer relations and their response was that a gift was not a gift, if you get my drift.
In other words, UA used my Cr-1 to gift me on a miss connect.
