Assumedly, not even FO, although it is possible, I guess, to be FO and never gotten a free upgrade.
But, if at least one of them were FO, I assume they would have been told the FO is eligible for a Medallion upgrade, even from U, on eligible domestic and international flights.
Reasonable deduction, but my main point was that folks were given emphatic replies without having enough info from the OP. Besides, maybe the OP has one of them fancy new credit cards where you can earn FO status without ever flying!
