The other day a narrow body out of ORD had a standby list of over 130 people, and the flight was taking DBs. I felt bad for the agents who basically had to argue with people about adding names, because the agents knew that not even a BP5A GS was going to clear the list for that flight.
Earlier this year, when there was a snowstorm in ORD causing IRROPS all around, I cleared standby as the 8th person on the list, as a GM, on a Friday night SFO-IAD redeye, when the flight was taking VDB's and actually IDB'ed people.
It was a miracle! ^
