Returned home on Friday after a 2for1 stay at CP Birmingham, but in a "Victoria Suite" room on 10th floor - not bad at all for only £90 per night (including access to club lounge for free continental breakfast etc.) and actually worked out cheaper than nearby HI Express I normally stay in!

Suite had recently been refurbished to a high standard and was basically the size of two club rooms with lounge area, dining table, bedroom with very comfortable king bed and walk-in wardrobe, bathroom with both bath and shower cubicle. 2 wide-screen TVs but no sign of the advertised DVD player, CD player and board games!!

Agree with garethmorgan about the bedrooms feeling a bit dark - seemed to be a light missing in the suite bedroom and there were several light switches doing nothing - but both aircon units (one in bedroom, one in lounge) were working just fine.

Construction work is very noisy during the day at the moment - I arrived at 1530 to old concrete being drilled out, and could hear it even on 10th floor, but it stopped promptly at 1600. Was expecting the same on day 2, but despite being assured it would again stop at 1600 it in fact went on to 1630 - but then thankfully complete silence for rest of night apart from banging room doors which was rather poor given that they're all on adjustable self-closers.

Front desk service was friendly and efficient, but lady in club lounge wasn't really on the ball and kept disappearing downstairs to fetch things. Didn't help that fancy coffeee machine was broken and she wasn't there to make my coffee when I first arrived!

Overall I really enjoyed my stay and the suite was exceptional value for money. Unless you're planning to be in the hotel between 0900 and 1600/1630 then the construction work won't affect you apart from unfinished areas around the lifts which aren't all in use at the moment.
