I find that securing seats online is often cumbersome and restrictive. Many a time I have looked at the seat map (on all aircraft types) and have been blocked from certain seats (E+ as well). I am even a 1K but the online seating system could care less. I find it more efficient to call reservations. I always have an emailed confirmation sent as this is proof that I was assigned specific seats. Even with confirmation of seats (via email confirmation) there are instances that someone at UA reservations had moved me to a less desirable seat later. I usually get the unexplained run-around as to why this happened. And just think, I am a 1K (9 years now). I am also a 2003 UGS. I have received every seat that I confirmed this year. So far, no unexplained seat switch has occurred. I have not booked online yet this year and suspect that my UGS status will not make a difference as this is a UA classification and not a MP classification.
