Sounds like a good idea to me. Many times I have boarded my second leg using the BP from the first leg (usually due to early morning grogginess) and the scanner will beep and print out the small seat assignment slip with my correct seat listed. The agent will usually give me that dopeslap look.

Don't really know how much it will save, but it will be easier for the pax I think.
