Seaport Village is good, The Midway Museum, Little Italy, Horton Plaza, Gaslamp, Petco. All are just a short trip from SAN. If you do get a car, a trip to La Jolla, Mission Beach, etc. Better ideas if we knew more of stuff that interests you.
