I wonder if dropping HUBs is a matter of semantics. If both DEN and LAX have huge Starfish presence, then indeed UA mainline diminish. The whole idea of having a hub is to feed mainline into mainline. But, since this is now mainline into low-cost, indeed the model is no longer functional. And, they're no longer hubs.
