United is US flag carrier and a US corporation and they happen to fly international routes.

While my position on this matter is the daughters status extension is a grey area, I fully support US companies and business granting special privileges or breaks to men and women called to active duty. Yes, they volunteered but many of them endure financial hardships when they are re-called to active duty. The special privileges or breaks some of these breaks are a way of saying thanks for being there when we needed you.
