I thought that, with an award ticket, UA doesn't allow stopovers within the same "region" and NRT/BKK are in the same region.
Am I confused or can one stopover in NRT en route to BKK when using an award ticket?</font>
The UA CSR I talked to said that Japan is considered its own region. BKK is in south Asia. The no stopover rule applies to travel within the same region. For example: BKK to SIN. Both are in south Asia. I am using UA miles for a trip from Eugene, Oregon to Cairns, Australia next November. I can stopover in New Zealand, another Australian city, or a US city. I chose Honolulu as my stopover. As long as you start in one region and your destination is in another region you can stopover anywhere the routing allows.
