Not certain I agree with this. LAX-LAS on a Friday, getting a cheap fare is next to impossible save, perhaps, for the 6:00am flight. However, in the other direction, LAS-LAX, a low fare is possible on a Friday.

If you've already seen/done Vegas, consider routing via RNO, although the RNO-LAX fare can be pricey compared to LAS-LAX.
