IIRC there is a thread here about the TJ consulate and their quick 1 day service.
Search Tijuana Consulate
plus you could fill up your tank for $2somthing per gallon and have a cheap meal
and a few shots of tequila while you wait.

I am tempted to drive from LA to get that.
