I am an accountant as well, auditor with a couple years experience. Are you working for a large firm right now? Many auditing positions will have a lot of travel but it comes/goes in cycles. Doesn't have to be a big 4 firm by any means. I am kind of in the same boat as you, my travel has dried up the past year and I am getting really bored.

I would suggest looking internally to your company first. Expressing interest can go a long way especially as many of your coworkers probably want to avoid travel. Going to work for a company in internal audit would also provide many opportunities. I would suggest sticking it out in public accounting a little longer though first before you go into industry. Unfortunately AS-5 last year made IT audit positions a bit more scared, but as far as I've seen they are still always looking for good people.
