How are the rooms?
Unusually for a new hotel, the rooms come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Good contemporary décor, excellent overhead rainfall showers in the Superior Suites, very comfy beds and good lighting throughout. However, there is a large construction site all along one side of the hotel that is unsightly and creates noise disturbance. RA amenity was a fruit bowl and bottle of Evian.
How is the exec. lounge?
Nice enough, but nothing special. Always seemed understaffed at breakfast time. No internet terminals in the lounge, but wifi was free. Weekday lunch service was good – a 3 course choice from a reduced room service menu, cooked to order.
What was good and what was bad?
Good:
-The Superior Suite we ended up in was a good size, well furnished and had a great view.
-Pre-allocated suite was available from early check in at 6am
-L’Occitane Verbena toiletries
-I thought the location was good, walking distance to many places, near the T if you’re going further.
Bad
- Construction work next door is intrusive and disturbing - starts at 7am, not ideal when on vacation.
- Despite request for a quiet room, was initially allocated Superior Suite overlooking the site.
- Was given the run around when asking to move rooms away from construction – took 24 hours and a huge amount of persistence to be offered an suitable alternative.
- Room not serviced at all one day; poor level of servicing and minibar not replenished next day
- Service from housekeeping and front desk was generally slow and ineffectual.
Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
I got a good advance rate on the PC website, so without the service problems encountered it would have been great value.
Would you return?
Unlikely. Although the hard product is good, I feel they need to improve their service levels and poor attention to detail. Every day brought another challenge, be that room allocation, room servicing, minibar or account problems. Just not good enough from a hotel of this standard.
