I didn't read all 14 pages of this thread, so it may have been answered already. When i fly out of zrh, frequently there is a sign by the check-in desk quoting a price to upgrade to bc. Would aa wait (in the hope of getting someone to upgrade by paying) and not clear my evip until the last possible minute?
Yep. It's done intentionaly for AA stallworths like "billgrates 3" who cough up miles + those juicy co-pays
