To be specific, the exact rental would be 16 days (we just re-arranged the itinerary).

I get the following quotes:

Hertz:
- Expedition: $2,108.49 (including $592 age differential)
- Explorer: $1,816.06 (including age differential)

Thrifty:
- Jeep Grand Cherokee: $1,442 + $25 per day underage fee (total approx $1900)

(the problem with Thrifty is that they give out a very low figure first, not including taxes and fees)


At these costs (divided per five passengers), I believe that it might be worth paying $300 for the comfort of the Expedition... But, again, I don't really know the vehicles...
