Typical 1K?

I never did a MR and I don't think the avg 1K does either. I travel primarily for pleasure but I think most 1K's fly for business. I pay my own freight. I always used miles for free tickets rather than upgrades. I never gave a thought to status miles. I flew carriers based on flight schedules rather than benefits. I learned about all of the benefits of having status from FT.

I think the majority of people who fly 100k miles a year on a particular carrier for business trips know the FF system in and out because traveling is part of their job. Business people tend to exploit anything they can to make their travel easier.

So the question I ask is: are 1K's primarily business travelers or leisure travelers; last minute ticket flyers or plan ahead buyers?
I would think the average 1K is very well aware of the benefits of being a 1K
