thats the link to the contract by the way.
I once protected a passenger on another airline due to an advance schedule change because I was misreading that contract and especially point B made me think I have the right to exchange the ticket using different airlines... Customer Care hunted me down though and corrected me.

OK NOW ENOUGH OF TECHNICALITIES lets find a solution... NEXT PORT OF CALL. This might suck but if it comes down to we could fly you to the next port of call! This will require a willing Customer Care (supervisor) and a little flight searching but it could be done... OR

Look up the transfer rules of the fare you bough. Maybe the fare itself allows one transfer to another airline which means Delta has to be the long haul flight (other words flying you outside the USA) and then link you up to another airline. Depending on the fare rules though and the routing requierments. I will assume that this is a routing fare which will limit us BUT I could be wrong and MOST of our fares DO allow at least one transfer to another AIRLINE... (transfer meaning flying delta and then connecting to another airline).

If that doesnt work then we have one more option. Why don't you look into ticket prices (historical fares ofcourse... fares that were in effect when you bought the ticket) to different destinations within central/ carribeans and then buying a one way ticket to your final destination. I have done that once for a passenger in a simular situation and I got im out of MADRID the same day selling him a ONE WAY on Air France to the Gateway Paris and then a delta fare from Paris home and the price was even less then what he paid on a delta thru fare...

What you need is a willing person to help you and they are out there... NOW A PERSONAL TIP FROM ME... Maybe you want to talk to the international reissue department. They are a little bit more used to looking up in depth deals then SUPERVISORS... you now know what the rules are... you need somebody who knows how to touch a ticket from diffrent angles and thats where INTERNATIONAL REISSUES comes in...

You make me miss the good old times... but let me know if you have questions please I will try to answer... this should be workable... just keep in mind that the solution will be different from what you bought so keep an open mind.
