AMEX had these years ago, and discontinued them. I remember getting the email and was disappointed to see it go away.

They called their version AMEX Private Payments. And they discontinued the feature several few years before all the other cards started to offer it.

I thing the explanation from AMEX was this overlapped the existing zero liability policy they have against fraudulent transactions, so no need to duplicate.
