You're saying they can't change the return date on the day of departure? Admittedly I haven't done that very often, but I have never been unable to do so when needed.

That hasn't been my experience at all. Sometimes I receive schedule change notifications, sometimes I don't. And the ones that have arrived haven't come at the one month mark often enough for me to think there's anything special about that time frame.

Again, I disagree. On what do you base this? Have you ever been in a similar situation? I have, several times, and I have found AA to be most accomodating every time.
