I have never done this before, but I think that I will not receive full credit for the canceled flight. How much will DL keep of the original amount we paid?
When you go to book the ticket and get to the payment page, there is a place to click on for "ecredits". It then allows you to see any ecredits you have (like from a cancelled flight like your case).

It will tell you how much the credit is, and also tell you how much they are charging you for the service. Basically, whatever the fee was for refunding or changing the original ticket is what will be deducted. Usually that can be $150 or $200 depending on the fare rules for the original ticket.

You can see what the charge will be by doing a dummy booking up to this point but just don't click on the final "purchase" button.
