In my experience, I've seen people clap on landing after short, routine intra-Gulf flights. On a long-haul flight and everybody's tired, then OK. If there's been a delay and all pax are glad to be home, then sure. But after a 40-minute flight? Needless to say, it's always Indians who do that. Egyptians usually clap after takeoff as well...
I've always wondered what non-Arab speakers think of those PA prayers-I always say that prayer before takeoff. It's meant to ask God for protection and stuff-like armrest hoggers aren't as venomous as hijackers...
