Standing in line waiting for announcement that 1st class passengers could board SFO-DTW yesterday (lots of gate lice, but I digress) and I glanced to my left to see John Edwards standing and waiting. One guy shook his hand and asked some guy to take a picture of Edwards and him with his cell phone. Others shot away while Edwards was on his phone.

I was four people ahead of him boarding and gave the flight attendants the heads up he was coming. I gentlemen-bet my seat-mate in 6A that Edwards bought 1C and 1D, but just before the doors closed, some guy took 1C, and ignored Edwards the whole flight. I don't know what I would have done if I sat by him, but probably would have engaged in some light banter.

Nice guy, very gracious with the public, and quite charismatic.
