) and then walked around (Millennium Park, Buckingham Fountain etc.)
If I could have, I would have suggested the John Hancok building instead of the Sears. Except for that minor detail, seems like a perfect brief stay in Chicago. The Architecture Foundation cruises are really wonderful - we make it a point to take every visitor to one. Navy Pier requires more specialized taste, but does have a very nice and extensive exhibit of stained glass works. (Did you know that there used to be a real naval base here, guarding a newly independent USA from a potential British invasion from Canada?) Chicago spent as much on the Millennium Park as Athens did on the Olympic Village, so we have no choice but to like it.
I am glad about the happy ending. In a few months I need to do the same trip in reverse (CHI-NYC), so I'll keep my fingers crossed.
