2.10 should be more than ample, assuming the flight from JFK is on time. The regulars around here can no doubt provide information (or correct me if I'm off base) but most likely the JFK flight will come in to terminal 4 and the AKL flight will leave out of the Tom Bradley terminal, which is right next door. Walk out of one terminal, round and into the other and through security again. With a bit of luck and a following wind, that'll take about 10 minutes. Maybe on a bad day it'll take an hour - if you're in the last row of economy on the JFK flight (so it takes a while to get off) and there's a long line at TBIT to get through security, but it's hard to see it taking longer than that. I assume you're on the 4 pm flight out of JFK, into LAX at 6.55 pm, connecting to the 9.05 pm to AKL?

I'm not sure what the minimum 'official' connecting time domestic-international is in LAX. This site (and I don't know if it is correct but no reason to believe it isn't) says 40 minutes for domestic-international ("DI").
