I always carry a briefcase and backpack on board and no-one has giving me a second look.
As far as advance time, I would think that 60 minutes early should be more than enough. The premier check ins are right near the front door. If you are leaving in the evening, it might take some time getting through security when the Europe bound flights are leaving, but any other time T7 is pretty empty.
