Thanks for all the feedback! At this point I'll write a letter and see what options are available if I do in fact pursue a refund.

If I had booked with a travel agent for everything (flights, tours, hotels, etc), what would have been different in this process? Would the travel agent have paid the difference to get me on a flight to get to where I needed to get to?
