That's how I've come around to seeing it too: a free hotel (or upgrade!) is a free hotel whether you get it because you regularly pay a lot of money at the check-in desk or you regularly pay a lot of money at the poker table. Same with a free flight, a free meal, etc.

And besides, I can take a free starwood hotel stay in my hometown without traveling or flying anywhere. I can't take a casino comp without traveling.

So I'm probably going to vote for the gaming loyalty, despite the conversation-creep that I fully expect to see set in on the forum.
