In 2002 we got to deplane using the rear stairs from an AA MD-80 at AUS. We were on a DCA-DFW-AUS trip and the DCA-DFW segment got diverted to AUS. Although we were sitting in a holding area on the tarmac they dropped the rear stairs and let us deplane there, saving us many hours of delays.
