If I routed through SFO, I might be able to swing a connection on US SFO-CLT-JAX, but I'll deal with figuring that out (and we all know how USeless some airlines can be).

Any other bits of informations or suggestions that I may not know about for transiting to the land down under (like glex50's tip on int'l connections through LAX)? Thanks again to everyone for their input! :-:
Sorry ... I was looking at transcon to IAD possibilities, not getting back to JAX same day. You came to correct conclusion above, virtually impossible through LAX.

The last flight out of ORD/IAD to JAX on the day I searched is 6:55PM/4:32PM. A VERY remote possibility is LAX-ORD departing at 12:00 ... but you'd have to have a early arrival on the transpac, quick customs, clear 2 waitlists, .... Have you considered a stopover on the West Coast ?

As far as "bits of information" ... if you can swing it, go all carry on. You'll have some additional flexibility when traveling plus won't have to worry about lost/delayed baggage which is a real possibility with all the connections and multiple airlines involved.

Australia is a great place to visit. I've been there several times and am planning an award to Cairns right now.
