An update...I found a great price on the Sandman Signature hotel at the airport, with some pretty good reviews on Trip Advisor...http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserR...o_Ontario.html
I've also talked to a couple of friends who have stayed here and they report that it is not as airport-hotel-like as most others.
So, I'll let you know how it is, when we arrive.

I decided to stay at the airport, because of the early morning flight out. We can also make our way downtown during the day, and shop, have dinner and enjoy the city a little bit.
