Got bumped this morning from a transcon (SFO-IAD) and gate agent seemed to be very friendly and know what she was doing. She said the rest of the day was overbooked and gave me a boarding pass for tomorrow morning.
I'm curious, did you know before volunteering that no same-day flights were available? If you had known that in advance would you still have volunteered? 23 hours is a pretty painful bump to take.
