I had this same problem a few weeks back when I booked a e-ticket online. I called NWA res and the agent said that because a ticket number had not been issued that I could not cancel it online yet. A few minutes later she came back and said the ticket had been cancelled. If you don't have a ticket number by the time you get home I'd give NWA a quick call.
