The upgrade to compact or full-size SUV has been happening to me quite a lot recently too, and I usually don't straighten it out because 1) my company is paying for the rental and 2) it means going and standing in a line to talk to someone instead of just jumping into the car and going. But it makes me cranky, especially when I go to fill it up before turning it back in. An earlier poster mentioned putting a restriction against SUVs and mini-vans on their Avis account - I think I'll do that. The biggest thing I've been handed was an extended cab Ford F-150 pickup when my little Dodge Stratus was in the shop. Compared to my very-low-to-the-ground Stratus, I felt like I was driving from a second floor hotel room by the time I climbed up in the cab!
