There are more tips and suggestions in this forum (and hopefully this thread assuming it will get 'merged'), some have better rental rates, some have better call charges (I personally value the ability to send and receive emails for next to nothing as this keeps me in touch without having to spend much - those ¥80 a minute calls quickly rack up ).
