I said I'd rather spend that amount of money elsewhere on another airline's product as oppose to spending it for CX's new biz seat but I never said it would be for LAX-HKG.
Sure, you can get flights for $8k to Asia from North America, and that proves what exactly? I think you're just arguing for the sake of it here. Again, the OP is talking about LAX-HKG...and most people probably are flying LAX-HKG because they have to do that route, aka they live near LA or connect there and then are going to HK. It doesn't do anything for someone who lives in LA to fly to SFO-ICN-SIN if they have a meeting in Hong Kong, and hence that $8k price you're complaining about doesn't just reflect the product but it also reflects demand for the route. You may not like it, but it's dumb to think of it not being "worth" $8k just because you have a grudge against their new J product. You do realize the market has decided this product is "worth" over $10k for flights HKG-JFK?

My hunch is you've done the new J once or twice max or never at all. It has plenty of flaws - myself and a lot of other CX FFs here have talked about it - but in my opinion that $8k has a lot more to do than just the seat. You do also realize CX also offers great schedule options running LAX-HKG at 3x daily, with loads of timings that are very convenient to KA and CX connection flights into China and Asia?
