For PUBLISHED benefits that appears the case. But I suspect more often than not, as a practical matter, plats are more likely to get upgrades, weekend breakfasts, etc. than would be the case with golds.
That's the problem with Marriott, even with the published benefits they still have a problem in delivering.

Really? Well let me tell you about a recent stay where my colleague (Gold) checked in half an hour before I did and was upgraded to C room. Guess what, I as a Platinum wasn't. To rub salt in the wound... He got his Gold for free via FlyingBlue
