Probably not.

While Boeing possibly *could* re-sell the 777s, after they rebuilt their interiors and repainted them, they'd probably lose money.

Who wants 767-300s, much less 767-200s? Not to mention UAL probably owns the 762s outright, since they are some 15 years old. Again, Boeing could take them back and try and re-sell them, but considering they forced American to take a mix of 777s and 763s last week (and essentially financed the balance to do it), that tells me the market is soft (Iberia just snubbed Boeing for A340s instead of 777s).

The 747s need their D Check Heavy Maintenance, and Boeing is having a hard time selling new ones.

As for the 737s, nobody wants 733 and 735s as their operating costs are higher than the Next Generation models in use with WN and the European low-fare carriers.

Alaska might take the 735s, as they are in the market to replace their MD-80s, but with Boeing offering huge discounts (both Ryanair deals were rumored to be 40% off list), Alaska could probably secure a 20% discount on a 50-plane 737-700C/800/900 order and have their entire fleet as NextGen models.

So the folks who have planes on lease with United really have no other place to peddle them. Their only option is to negotiate lower fees and hope UA stays in business.
