Excellent point. At CostCo, one pays the fee upfront to buy things at a savings (reminds me, we need to make a CostCo run this week
). If the upfront airline fee came with purchase savings (kind of like AC membership represents a savings over individual day passes) it would be an interesting idea. A fee just to have a FF program? Not as good an idea.
