Well, as my friends will only have their marriage registered at the town hall, I wanted to throw an actual wedding party, complete with the wedding cake and everything. But, with only small numbers of guests, I guest an intimate dinner party in a private room or 'gay friendly' restaurant will be OK plus the wedding cake.
We do not have a set budget. As long as it is not extraordinarily high, i.e.>1K/pax, that should be OK.
I can't think of any restaurant in SF that isn't extremely "gay friendly." There are countless quality restaurants here - pick one and don't think twice about what the staff thinks about being gay. More likely than not, someone else in the restaurant will already have taken advantage of the new law.
