Well, from an ABC's point of view...

Hong Kong is one of the greatest cities on earth! Great food, great shopping, great infrastructure and most importantly, GREAT LOCATION.

If the OP is planning to spend a month in Asia, HKG is the best place to be based. From HKG, you can visit PEK, PVG, HAN, SGN, ICN, TPE, NRT, BKK, SIN and KUL (just off the top of my head); each are no more than 4 hours away from HKG.

Some of these destinations are served by Asian LCCs. JetStarAsia, AirAsia, Tiger Airways, all with new jets and service that puts the US legacy carriers to shame. Even when they're charging you for a soda. And if you fly mid week, it's hella cheap!

I agree with the others posting on this thread: HKG will get boring if you limit yourself to just HKG during your month stay. Figure out another part of Asia you'd like to visit and go there during your one month stay!
